Salam and Hi,

Here I want to pose a very important question, DOES EXAMINATION IS TAKING ITS TOLL ON YOU?

There a three reasons why you might feel that this semester’s examination is one of the most unprepared or in other words, “I can do much better if…” kind of situation. Our final examination is the most important for us because they contributed about 40% t0 60% of our total marks for most courses that we took. Frankly speaking, it means our grade for a course can be absolutely determined if we score in our final examination. Once you screw it up, your total mark will be affected and there are cases of students who have to repeat several courses that they took, not because of their low course marks, but because of their failure in the final examination.

That is how important our final examination could and should be. We should be given everything necessary to excel in the examination. The three reasons which caused the situation to deteriorate are:

1. No study week

Many will agree that by not having a study week for this semester, they cannot prepare much for their final examination. Although, it’s actually individually dependent, but I believe that if given a study week, UTPians will be able to prepare more. As everyone knows that the final is very important, we need to revise, do exercises, do past year papers, discussion with friends and lecturers and to do them all is not enough if you just have a few days gap in between examination paper. Sometimes you dont even have a gap. These are essential for anyone who wants to score for his or her final examination. And all of this should have been completed if we have a study week.

The time gap in between papers should have been used only to do light revision and most importantly to “RECOVER”. To recover is to have short breaks in order to regain mood and to shift mental focus onto the next paper. We are humans and we need this. We are not robots who can study 24 hours per day and 7 days per week. WE NEED TIME TO RECOLLECT OURSELVES and this time is during the gap. But today, our time gap are used to do all those prepatory work and we have to. Because we do not have any other time. Just look at your gtalk list, many commented on breaking down after examination because they lacked of time. A time that are supposed to be our rights in the first place, a time for use to prepare for the most important part of the semester, a time for use to improve our CGPA and the time that we need is our study week.

” Get over with it, the examination is almost done”. Yes its true, the past is the past, but remember, we are the one who set the course of the past that we experienced. This problem should have been avoided in the first place. The management had several choices on replacing the unprecedented H1N1 holidays. In fact, many voted to extend the semester to replace the academic classes or to have replacement during weekend but the UTPian never agree of abolishing the study week. But, a few ears up there just wont listen and we have to pay the price with our final examination. To blame others is not the intention of this post but as a reminder of those in power to think again before you make a decision that will affect the students.

2.Answer all format

Now, with this new ruling, we are forced to study more and to focus on all tiny pieces in our lecture notes because we cannot choose anymore. We have to answer all. Not to mention that they did not give us our study week and at the same time forced us to answer all. This new ruling might have some purpose in it but it is at the wrong semester. Before, we can choose questions that we have more confidence to answer enabling us to score higher. However, with this new ruling we dont have a choice but to answer all.

Truthfully, we cannot know all, that is why we need to be able to choose on which question to answer depending on our confidence. By having more options we can assesses on which question to answer that will give us more marks. However, this is not possible now, and once we do not know how to answer the questions, we dont have much choice isnt it. Either leave it of ‘fry’ whatever you know. Given no study week, we already know whether or preparations is enough or not.

3.Timetable not as promised

We were once promised to have a better examination timetable, but many did not get a better deal of examination timetable. Perhaps you readers know better than me on this. Some have, daily paper for 4 consecutive days. (do you think 6-7 hours gap is enough to do all those past years and revision and making time for you to RECOVER?). The others might have double papers per day. All in all, the time-table never change much compared to the last semester. It is the same. One thing for sure, I cannot imagine another semester without the study week.

Let us voice out our opinions via this poll.

Till then readers.

Answering False Accusations

Salam and Hi everyone,

Initially, I refused to bring this matter up because I believe there is no reason for me to badmouth people. However, a few irresponsible people kept playing this false accusation card until today to disgrace My3forAll team. They kept saying that My3forAll do this and that which after further investigations I personally found that it was not true. Later, I decided to write this post in defending My3forAll from these allegations. There are several issues raised:

“My3forAll attaced Kak Hani (ex-MPPUTP) during the manifesto presentation night”

Kak Hani was one of the questioners during my presentation. She asked a 3 minutes-long questions which most of them I cannot answer because I was given only 10 seconds. Nevertheless, two of my dear friends from My3forAll approached Kak Hani to ask her to stay after the presentation to get further clarifications from me.  They felt that it was important for me to answer her pertinent questions so that people will understand better on what change I’m talking about.

However, to call that an ‘attack’ is very notorious as it was in the Chancellor hall and everyone can see them. It was a polite request to stay awhile after the ceremony ends just for another conversation and not as some claimed as “personal attack with harsh words!” .

Later, I gtalk-ed Kak Hani on this matter and found out indeed she was ‘approached’ and not ‘attacked’. I confirmed with her that no harsh words being said and all was my two friend did was to ask her to stay. Therefore, this accusation is baseless.

” My3forAll attacked Haniff Humam”

One thing is, our brother Haniff Humam was far away in Johor during the campaigning period. Indeed, he came back for the manifesto presentation and vote counting but later on both nights he  returned back to Johor. So, during what time he was attacked? This notion is the most notorious of all accusations. I have also gtalk-ed Mr Haniff and confirmed with him that no attack have occurred on him or his friends.

“My3forAll attacked and sabotaged Ain candidate no 4″

One thing, we come from the same batch, provocation is almost not possible. We have been voicing out support for all the three candidates, and always promote each other during campaign. In fact, there are some sections who played this ‘batchism’ card to break us apart. I’m sad of that. Nevermind. The provocation as some of my aid had confirmed was from different people, not from our batch or even our supporters but a common UTPian. If my information is correct, this accusation was spread from room to room and from blog to blog by ‘the’ people to place bad image on me and my team.

All in all, I am forced to answer these questions to eliminate confusions and slanders made by some band of people who use such a cheap political provocation. However, if there are evidences of such events occurred, I’m very glad to investigate the issue. Just gtalk me. ash037@gmail.com. The truth is the truth, and if indeed it happened, I will not hesitate to take actions.

Till then readers.

An Outsider’s View

Salam and Hi everyone,

This is a recent post from one of my great teachers concerning our election. She has always been there to support me during my ups and downs during my school years. Lets hear what she has to say about the election:

salam untuk semua………….

dua tiga malam ni aku tidur agak lewat…… (terlalu lewat la……. pkl 3 pagi…..). aku terlalu asyik membaca beberapa post dari pelbagai blog yang aku jumpa. benda yang selama ni aku tak tahu….. (sebab masa aku kat u dulu, x de benda2 ni….. ke u aku je yang tak de??? ke aku tak ambik tahu kot, sebab concentrate belajar……… zaman aku kat u ’sakit’ sebab aku kat luar negara…… nanti la ada peluang aku akan citer…………. )tak sangka pulak kat u kita benda2 camni berlaku…………..

‘you know you can do it and you will do it’. just believe in yourself and Allah always……….. doa sensei sentiasa untuk kamu. moga berjaya. ganbatte kudasai!!!

p/s…… aku mintak maaf kalau ada statement dalam post ni yang x betul. aku hanya memberikan pandangan sebagai bekas guru yang mengenali acap. gomen nasai………..

Salam and Hi everyone,

Firstly, I would like to wish everyone good luck in your final examination as time is catching up fast. Definitely next week will be a hectic week of tests and all sort of submissions you need to adhere. Do it with your best effort plus your heart in it for you will never regret it.

The reason I’m writing this post is to declare a new entity in UTP campus politics arena. A new force to be reckon with in fighting for justice, equality and performance. We want a new era of MPPUTP, we want a new definition of Student Bodies, we want a result based performance in UTP. We want an improvement in our state of welfare and we want equal rights and place of our students and we want a new dawn of change. We are UTP students!

From the recent PRK, an October Revolution has developed. A new interest in campus politics emerged. It formed a new wave that shakes the hegemony that has long been encroached in our University. We have become matured. We have opened our eyes. And we are planning our moves. This blog will be dedicated to spread the truth of our situations, from politics, to welfare from healthcare to student rights, and from news of locals, to problems of internationals. This has become the fight of all UTPians and now is our beginning.

There are many issues involved. But the most important thing, we want to find solutions. We will help in this sense, we will help MPPUTP to redifine itself and perform better in the future. We will support them as legitimate leaders of this university. UTPian Watch is a new media which amplifies UTPian’s voices which might be too slow for people up there to hear.

A new revolution begins.

 Till then readers.

Rausyanfikir Supports Us.

Salam and Hi,

I just want to share a through analysis form one of the best thinker and activist in UTP, Mr Rausyanfikir on yesterday’s election result. He is one of my respected list of peoples who are not afraid of voicing out on what is right. Please read his articles and reviews here entitled,

Politik Machiavellinisme dan PRK UTP: Satu analisa ringkas.Dont forget to visit Abg Abg “>Zaman and Abg Hasmadi’s blog as well for the latest info on the election.

Another thing is, due to encouraging viewers request to maintain this blog, perhaps I will consider to reconstruct this blog as UTP politics observer as a medium of counter balance in the coming role of MPPUTP 09/10. This is a responsibility of all to help our leaders improve the situation. Pray for them and pray for a better life in UTP.

“An opposition is needed, for democracy to be uphold. Weak it is, grow it will.”

Till then readers.

Salam and Hi.

I just came back from the vote counting center. It looks like this is not our moment yet. From 1535 votes we managed to garner 951 votes placing us in the sixth place.  The first place won by Umair, second place belongs tu Muid, third place belongs to Ain, 4th place belongs to Abg Hanif, and Jenani took the 5th place. I whole-heartedly wish them good luck and all the best inleading this university in the next term. You guys faught bravely and I admire the courage and leadership in all of you.

To all My3forAll, thank you for all you hard work, motivation and spirit. This might not be our moment yet but never give up. The spirit of UTP Neighbourhood will never fade and the desire for change will never die. We might be the starter of awareness and an even bigger revolution, who knows. This might be one Acap falling, but more Acaps will emerge in the future. Just believe in my words. We will be helping them next time. To all voters thank you for completing your role in this election. This is your right and it is your responsibility you have done it well.

To the 951, I will always remember your votes, and despite what other people said, you voted for me. I am in debt with you guys. I will remember, this are the voices that wanted renewal in this university. I will always hold you in my heart to continue my fight in the future. This 951 will be my ornament in my fight for what is right. I will still submit my manifesto to the new MPPUTP HICOM 09/10 for their considerations.

Lastly, this blog will remain as a justification of the new voices in UTP. It will remain as long as there are people like us who are still fighting.

Till then readers.

The Great Issues

Salam and Hi everyone,

Once again I must write a new post to answer a lot of important questions and constructive criticisms. I just cannot post another comment after a very long thread on comments.haha. Thanks everyone for your active involvement in this blog. I will try to answer them accordingly but I might miss some of them. I just pick the important issues first.

From Zeff,

“Segregation between students and rakan masjid”.

As far as I’m here in UTP, this issue has been hanging in the air. Although I haven’t joined any of RM events (Just went to enjoy Nashid during Heart For Islam and listen to Ceramahs sometimes), it must be seen that for a Muslim, this struggle to perform “Amar Makruf Nahi Mungkar” (upholding goodness rejecting evil) is the responsibilities of all Muslims towards every Muslims and towards other friends of different religious believes. Rakan Masjid is a good medium to embody this principle. However, we see resentments from various walks of life in UTP towards RM. Most of them stem from actions taken by RM in terms of anti-Hedonism, coupling and in MPPUTP.

My stand in this issue is, I believe that when a leader is voted to win he/she has a binding social contract towards the people. The obligation of leaders to alleviate the lives of their people must also include the obligation to steer the people away from evil. If there are events or actions that promote unhealthy lifestyle, infringe the right of others or insensitive towards racial and religious divide even if it is from RM itself, we are against it. If Euphoneus or Heart for Islam promotes promiscuity (pergaulan bebas) which are against our moral eastern Malaysian values and common principles of every religions, then we are against it. The good is the good, the bad is the bad. I believe we should uphold student’s right but at the same time not give in to lusts and desires.

If alcohol is unhealthy then it is bad, and we are against it. Same goes to inappropriate actions. If free sex or actions of extreme religion are bad, then we are against them. Playing games excessively is bad, then we are against it. Studying excessively is perhaps bad too, then we are against it. If cronyism in campus politic is bad, then we are against it. Therefore, I believe no matter where or from whom the events or actions came from, if it violates the basic principles of goodness of our people then we are against it. This is the social contract of any leaders towards their people. Leaders might be different in race or religion, but they must uphold all the goodness in their communities trespassing race, religion and nationality. It is the greater good for all. So, to make any judgements, we must base on this. Think of the pros and cons of it before we put any convictions.

I call upon all UTPians to sit and think together, are we upholding the good thing? Did our actions oppress someone? Did our events bring negative impacts? Did our stand of highly conservative or excessively liberal promote divide and evil?  Find the hikmah in doing things and not resort to aggressions.

You can further read on this,

RM President, Abg Akram- http://mujahidmuda.com/, Ex-MPPUTP Jared-http://hanseong.wordpress.com/, Henry Yew- http://yewhenry.wordpress.com/ Mino-http://langkahsepi.wordpress.com/

“Semangat Batch”

The notion and sentiment of a batch promoting only their batchmate candidates is true and normal. I do not think that is bad. Commonly, it is practiced in every elections before and come to think of it, of course one would vote for his/her batchmate or for the one that he/she knows (from events etc.). Nevertheless, that should not become a hindrance towards realizing one’s promises of the manifesto. If selected, all 5 of the MPPUTP High Committees must be responsible for all; leaders for all. Batch has never been an issue of representing all UTPians. We are one as a neighbourhood must work together regardless of our age, batch, program and village. I hope that those who are playing such cheap sentiments, please stop. Me myself, I’m promoting Abg Hanif and Jenani here in my blogroll indicating that I’m not too “Batch-ism” but as one of the good will in campus politics. We are rivals in the election, but that will end tomorrow. After that onwards, we will be friends, win or lose. This is what missing in UTP politics. We are too afraid to change. Some would rather resort to provocation and even tearing down posters! Is this the campus politic that we want? Dirty and shameful?

“Not high enough goals”

In this issue Zeff, I believe that my manifesto in feasible (do-able) in the short terms. Too far-fetch goals are going to more unmarked graves. To uphold UTP Neighbourhood is to promote unity, equality, understanding, friendship, love and oneness. It is like a real dream of a warm neighbourhood which is to live a harmonious community without prejudice and deceit. We want to promote diverse presence of every parts of the community in event committees, we want UTPians to develop oneness through UTP Day, we want healthy interactions among students.

If we are able to make ourselves as one, then we can step to the next level of playing a greater role on discussing the national issues. We are still young (11 years old), therefore the proper strategy is to strengthen our university first because as one, our voices are stronger. This is the higher purpose of UTP Neighbourhood. It has its own high goals but in a very practical step and strategy. This is the strategy of growth. We must have a reality check first before we take any steps. I hope you will understand this.

Till then readers…

Salam and Peace be upon you.

Salam and Hi everyone..

Thank you to all who have invested their times, energy and ideas on making this blog alive. I’m very glad because the are a lot of constructive arguments and discussions and comments up to 74 in total and hits up from 400+ this morning and now reached 1500 in just 11 hours. As a candidate, I’m proud to see that the awareness of UTP students about the campus politics is high and perhaps this campaign might have triggered such wave of change..

To answer a few prominent questions in the previous post, first I would like all to stop whatever you are doing and typing and think about the person that you wanted to criticize and condemn. He or she is just another UTPian, just like you who are concerned and interested to share his/her ideas on any issues relating to them. Just like you. Therefore, in the spirit of UTP Neighbourhood, one should always think that in a neighbourhood we must always work together on something that affect us all. Our leadership, our education and our welfare. It is okay to agree or disagree sometimes but limitations is a must. If you hurt the other side of the computer, you are just hurting another UTPian and it is against everything that I have preached; to live together as one be it Malay, Chinese, Indian, Muslims, Non-Muslims, Internationals or Locals, and Juniors or Seniors.

OPEN APOLOGY

So I hope, everyone can cool down focus on the main issues rather than emotions. I’m very sorry if any of my statements affect the sensitivity of any candidates or supporters. I believe I have never mention specific names or parties in this issue. As for my answer in the previos post, I do not mean to attack any candidates personally and I feel bad if some misinterpretation occured. I openly say sorry to any candidates because they are my friends anyway. If other organizations felt disturbed by my remarks I whole-heartedly say sorry. What I meant was, Im not the product of any major organization, so that is why I said I’m alone.  I think I just wanted to express the injustice done to me but somehow I put it in such way that affect the credibility of others. I realize winning or losing I’m going to need you guys in the future as what friends are always for. We have the same vision and let us work together on it.

For those who feel they need to talk to me just add me to your gtalk ash037@gmail.com. Just now, I had a very good conversation with Kak Rahimah and Alhamdulillah she understood now on what I wanted to bring in this university. She also gave me a few important tips in campaigning and making my manifesto feasible. Thank you to you Kak  Rahimah as one of best student leaders in UTP. This shows that misunderstanding can be solved if we put aside emotion and pride. I hope we can settle our differences and hold our hands together and make the dream of UTP Neighbourhood alive. To lobanghidung, I would love to chat with you to help me and other UTPians to solve the common problems that we face. Leadership crisis, endangered education and fading student rights. I promised things that are within my capabilities and not something that I did not think through.

I must also admit that one term might not be enough but I will do most of the things in my agenda. I have already turned down invitations to hold positions in major events to make sure that I can focus on realizing what I preached. This is my dedication even before the nomination day. It is not just a defeat if I lose this election, but I am also losing great offers which might not come twice because everyone wants position in big events but not me. I have made my committment and I planned to do it.

I was very sad indeed when I heard that there have been a fight between Internationals and Locals a few weeks back. Just because of a bad driving skill and inconsiderate hand gesture, a fight triggered. Who wants to live in an environment of such brutality? It might be a small incident but it proved to us that we are still very much divided. Lets look at this picture.

Copy of CIMG1535

These are my friends, and they hold the dream that we all want, Unity. A picture holds a thousand words and this picture depicts it all. Our dream of equality, friendship and oneness. If you do not want this dream to be just a dream, continue voting not just for this election but also in elections to come, for it as you rights to bring it to reality. (Sorry if the picture only depicts chinese, Indians and International. Do not feel offended but this is the only best original and sincere picture that I have.)

Perhaps we can also learn from Deepavali and Indian Cultural Night. I went there and experienced once of the most diversed and integrated event in UTP. All races were there and all enjoyed the diversity of culture. I was really happy because hundreds or perhaps thousands of people were present. The food was good and the most important thing is the unity and integration that everyone felt. This what UTP Neighbourhood embodied.

In reply to Zeff,

1.  What weakness do you find in current MPPUTP and how do you intend to work on them?

Honestly, working as Rakan Exco before, I see that we do not really have a strong ground to work on. The redundancy of MPPUTP roles with other major organizations in terms of residential welfare, academic programs just to name a few makes it in able to perform its duties better. I propose to impose KPI (some said already been done, but I call for a new dimension of it -public polls and Rakan Exco feedbacks), to help us reinforce our performance and redefine our jobscope in MPPUTP. You can surf into UTPian blogs, and read through that many dissatisfaction occurred not on candidates, but on ”kerja” MPPUTP. I believe that a strong leadership can regain the trust of UTPians on their Representatives. Trust. Yes, that is what we need to help build the UTP Neighbourhood concept on the utmost important factor which is strong MPPUTP leadership.

2. What do you see in current situation in UTP that needs to be changed?

I think the most important thing that Utpians need to be aware is the transformation of our university towards research university. Why is it important? I believe the reason why you and I are here is because we want to complete our education which later help us in our careers. How would you be able to gain the most from your learning process when your lecturers are too busy with researches? Will you be able to benefit fully in you tutorials if you tutor is just there because it is part of their coursework (with some payment as well) and not out of quality? There are some which are really good but the notion of “GA studying here does not mean they are all qualified to teach” should worry you, Zeff as well as everyone else.  Now think about the trimester students. The reason trimester being proposed and experimented is to allow lecturers to do research in one of the three semesters of the year ( they will not teach during this period). It can solve the problem of too busy lecturers ( still I argue can a research be done in just three months?) but the most affected is our juniors, the trimester students. They are studying lesser subjects but bearing a high 5 credit hours per course of study. This will translate for a higher chances of falling into Consequence Management. If you fail just a single subject your huge credit hour will drag your CGPA way below the CM level. You see, the danger of such ruling coupled with Consequence Management.

3. What will UTP be like after your term as MPPUTP if you win the election?

Before I answer this, I hope that everyone will understand that leaders are not perfect. We make mistakes. To bring change also is not that easy. The most important part is to work hard to accomplish what we have vowed to the people. A concise reality check must be done so that our ideas will not be too far-fetch. Under the concept of UTP Neighbourhood, UTP will become a united society which appreciate its own uniqueness and values. We work and live together in harmony, championing our rights and equality, as well as integration. In my manifesto, I proposed UTP day to make student appreciate the foundation of this university. If you think of it Zeff, is there any event which celebrate the University? Convo might be one but the true appreciation of it is to the graduating UTP students and not  for UTP specifically. Therefore, just like Merdeka Day or Malaysia Day, we need a UTP day to inculcate the sense of belonging and appreciation to this university that we love. This is just one step to build up the attitude among UTPians and I’m sure even you and everyone else might have better ideas.

In all, I hope that I my answers are adequate enough to satisfy you. If you need and further clarifications please add me in you gtalk.

Till then readers..thank you.
